Escape From Tarkov: Can I buy it on Steam? Pre-Order Guide, Equipment, Beta & more

The 'Edge of Darkness' edition will set you back for the rest of the month but provides you with an insane collection of bonus equipment.

Despite Escape From Tarkov being in a closed beta state (since 2017), it still has a pretty great reputation as a unique Battle Royale.

It is easily one of the most distinctive Battle Royales we have come across in recent years, doing well to distance itself from other titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends.

The focus on slow-paced, deeply tactical movement gives the game a different feel to its competitors, and the graphical style is incomparable.

Maybe this is why the shooter has gained so much traction in recent months.

So for those of you that have landed on this article, looking for a way to download Escape From Tarkov, look no further.

Here, we cover every step you’ll need to take in order to download the game, so continue reading below.

Get better at Tarkov by watching below!

Can I buy it on Steam?

Unlike other games nowadays, EFT is not available on any of the big game clients such as Steam, Epic Games or Origin.

Instead you the game can only be purchased through EFT’s official website, which can be found here.

Once you are on their website you will notice a big logo that says “Escape From Tarkov, Pre-Order”.

Technically this is still the closed beta, but this won’t be an issue.

Simply, click ‘pre-order’ and you will be prompted with all the purchasable editions of EFT.

Where else can I get it?

While we understand that patience is wearing thin in the community, we do not currently recommend purchasing Escape From Tarkov from any third-party websites yet.

This query follows an explosion in the game’s popularity around New Year’s day, and subsequent requests to ‘wipe the system’ and bring everyone back to Level 0.

We repeat, do NOT purchase Escape From Tarkov from a third-party website.

The prices will be different from the official website, and it will not be as easy to redeem a code.

How to gift Tarkov to a friend?

When you go to the official website, click the big shiny pre-order button in the middle of the page.

Scroll down to the edition you want, and you’ll see the pre-order button.

Below it, there’s another link marked “Purchase a gift copy”.

When you select that, you can either enter a friend’s email address or you send them the activation code yourself.

The latter editions will certainly set you back for the rest of the month, but it will give you a step up on the majority of the opposition while offering insane levels of customisation.
