Animal Crossing New Horizons will feature on the Switch, but will it arrive on the 3DS, 2DS or DS?

The countdown is on for the launch of Animal Crossing New Horizons, ending an eight-year drought when it finally arrives on Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch is regarded as one of the most successful handheld consoles of all time, but will it feature on one of Nintendo's other handheld consoles?

Perhaps we could see it on the 3DS, 2DS or DS? Here's what we know.

Will Animal Crossing New Horizons Be On 3DS, 2DS Or DS?

Animal Crossing has had its day on handheld consoles.

In 2005, Animal Crossing: Wild World arrived on the DS. While the 2012 classic, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, arrived on the 3DS.

If the game was to arrive on another console, it's likely to be a Nintendo owned console such as the 3DS.

However, there are a few issues. The 3DS game production has dramatically slowed down as all attention is shifted to the Switch and Switch Lite.

It's unlikely the 3DS or 2DS will support this game either and does not help promote new sales of their flagship console; production for the DS also ended years ago.

Meaning that the PS4 will NOT receive New Horizons.

When Will The Game Release?

It won't be long before you get to play Animal Crossing New Horizons, as it arrives on the 20th March 2020.
