The Prowler Burst PDW might be an SMG in name, but with the right tweaks it could be the best assault rifle in the game.

Apex Legends Season 4 is here, and the game is just getting bigger and better a year on from launch.

While the Sentinel may be the newest weapon to be added, today we’re looking at the Prowler Burst PDW

The Prowler

Now a year in, the Prowler remains one of Apex Legends’ best guns – if you have the right attachments to turn it into a beast.

Here's our guide to using the Prowler Burst PDW.

The Prowler might be the best-kept secret in Apex Legends

Where to Find The Prowler

Keep an eye out in high or mid-tier loot regions for the Prowler. If you have to pick between this or the R-99, grab the latter – unless you’ve stocked up on attachments.

What Attachments And Ammo Does It Take?

The Prowler can be fitted with an extended heavy mag, and a variety of scopes including Holo, HCOG, Variable Holo and the Legendary Digital Threat.

While it fires its heavy ammo in five-shot bursts, you can fit it with the Selectfire Receiver to allow full-auto mode.

Prowler Tips And Tricks

The Prowler is an SMG, but when you factor in the Selectfire Receiver hop-up, it essentially becomes a powerful assault rifle that deals enough damage to kill a Legend in three pulls of the trigger when wearing full armour.

When using the Prowler, character movement remains fairly fast, too – but if you’re firing in bursts you’ll need to be mindful that you only get four bursts without an extended mag.
