Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4: Weapon Tier List And The Best Weapons To Use

The best weapons are...

With Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 now live, players will be experimenting with the latest weapon changes and new arsenal available.

If you want to make sure you don't lose your touch and that you stay in shape, you'll have to keep up with the ever-changing meta.

We're sure that most people will know by now which weapons are better than others, but we've detailed that into a super-handy tier list.

Suppressed Sniper Rifle

The Suppressed Sniper Rifle has been Unvaulted once more, again at the expense of last season's MVP the Bolt-Action (AWP). While the Suppressed version does slightly less damage, it is basically silent, allowing you to snipe in peace without giving away your position.

That being said, headshots still do an incredible 252 damage with the purple Suppressed Sniper Rifle, and 262 with the Legendary. Just watch out for that bullet drop - but once you've mastered that, you'll be winning in no time. At the moment, it looks like the only way to get this weapon in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 is by eliminating Henchmen.

The SCAR boasts the second-highest DPS in the entire game. It's also incredibly accurate at mid-range. Do you need any more info?

Rocket Launcher

Rocket Launchers are a great all-round weapon in Fortnite, as they do massive damage from afar.

Great for destroying walls or buildings in the later stages of a game, a handy tactic is to immediately switch weapons after shooting your rocket launcher.

Due to the time that it takes for a rocket to reach an enemy, you can hit them with a second shot from a sniper rifle or something as well to do massive damage.

Burst Assault Rifle

The Burst Assault Rifle is incredibly handy and some players swear by it, even ahead of the SCAR.

We admit it's good, but not that good. Let the reticule rest for a second or two when you first start looking through the scope, and then its accuracy is profound.

As a mid-to-long range rifle, it can drop enemies quicker than you can say Battle Royale.

Suppressed Assault Rifle

Another weapon fresh out of the vault, the Suppressed Assault Rifle sacrifices damage output for stealth. Your best bet for this weapon is to utilise Fortnite's First Shot Accuracy and single-tap your way to victory. Again, this works well when you're at mid-range and your enemies won't know where you are, as the silenced shots will confuse them.

The bloom for automatic fire on this is quite big, so you'll be unlikely to get many kills without single firing.

Pump Shotgun

The damage output of the Pump Shotgun is simply unbelievable.

Especially in the early stages of a game, when players have yet to find much armour, you can ruin their games with a couple of shells from the Pump Shotgun to the head.

The Pump Shotgun has been Unvaulted for Season 4, so find one as quickly as possible and head to a crowded area!

Guided Missile Launcher

Similar to the standard rocket launcher, this does insane damage and is especially good for destroying structures to leave your enemies vulnerable in the late-game.

However, the improved accuracy can leave you vulnerable as you control the missile.

Semi-Auto Sniper

The Semi-Auto Sniper has double the DPS of the Bolt-Action, but that requires you to be hitting more shots as each one does much less damage.

When facing a player with good movement, that can be easier said than done. However, the semi-auto is still a good choice for any game.

Stark Industries Energy Rifle

The Stark Industries Energy Rifle is a brand new weapon for the Marvel crossover in Chapter 2 Season 4.

Head to a Quinjet landing site and eliminate the Stark Robots or take down a Stark Drone to get your hands on Fortnite's first (I think?) energy weapon.

It does good damage at mid-range, and can be very handy. The benefit is that if you defeat all the robots, you'll have a shedload of ammo and be able to loot the Quinjet also.

The LMG has been Unvaulted in Season 4, but it needs a few improvements to really climb our rankings.

For close-up firefights, you will always want a Shotgun over an LMG, and it is simply too inaccurate at range to even challenge the Assault Rifles.

However, it does considerably more damage and has a huge magazine in comparison to an AR. If you practise a lot, it can be deadly, but this is best for experienced players.

Heavy Shotgun

The Heavy Shotgun is a really good weapon, and it doesn't really deserve to sit this low on the tier list.

However, it is comfortably the third-best shotgun, outclassed by both the Pump and Tactical varieties. It will remain at the top of B Tier, at least until Chapter 2 Season 2 gets underway.

Grenade Launcher

Perfect for destroying structures as well as those residing inside them, the Grenade Launcher fills an interesting niche.

Best used when besieging an enemy building, you can use this to block an exit route - or provide yourself with an entrance route - before switching to something close-ranged as you try to find that all-important kill.

Again, nothing in B Tier is bad, per se, there are just better options available. So, if you run past an M16 in the early stages of a game, be sure to pick it up.

However, don't swap out your Burst Assault Rifle or SCAR for one, as it's simply not worth it.

Scoped Assault Rifle

The Scoped Assault Rifle sacrifices damage power for accuracy at range. Therefore, it is a less versatile and pretty useless close-up, but you should have other weapons to cover that anyway.

Unvaulted for Season 4, it's still not a terrible option and can seriously dent an opponent's shield or finish them off after a sniper round to the skull.

The Minigun is this high for one reason and one reason only. Structure destruction. This is the best weapon in Fortnite for destroying enemy structures.

Its inaccuracy is moot when firing at a giant wall, as its power destroys buildings in seconds.

Don't bother firing at an enemy with this, as you'll be lucky to get one or two hits, but it's a useful Rocket Launcher alternative for the late game.

Tactical SMG

As we covered earlier, SMGs aren't really the flavour of the month for Fortnite. Perhaps Chapter 2 Season 4 will change things, but at the moment they really don't seem worth taking.

The Tactical has been Unvaulted this season, but still isn't very good. Replace with an Assault Rifle or Shotgun asap.

A fast rate of fire makes them useful in early building scraps, but this will be one of the first weapons you replace when you find better loot.

Suppressed Pistol

The Suppressed Pistol has quite a high DPS, but you need to actually hit all those weak shots that you're firing off.

A maximum of 28 damage per hit just won't cut it in most games. That being said, the Suppressed Pistol is your best Pistol option, if that means anything to you?

We're really scraping the barrel here. There's pretty much no situation I'd like to face armed with only a crossbow, but especially when jumping into an arena with 99 other people all trying to kill me.

You seriously can't get much worse than this. Oh wait, we've still got three more entries...

Suppressed SMG

The trade-off of damage for stealth simply isn't worth it for an SMG. You're only going to be using this at close-range anyway, so the silence is a moot point. We really can't think of much use for this.

Hand Cannon Pistol

To be fair to the Hand Cannon, it can do some nasty damage when used correctly. Just be prepared for the snail's pace of a rate of fire and massive recoil.

That being said, the Hand Cannon Pistol has its uses, such as doing good damage to structures. Look to land some early-game headshots to take out a few competitors in your landing zone.

Arguably the most boring weapon in the whole game, the Pistol is just Fine. If it's the only thing to hand, fire off as many shots as you can in the vague direction of an enemy and you never know, right?

This season, Legendary and Epic pistols have been Vaulted, making it even more useless.

The Revolver combines the low damage output of a Pistol with the slow rate of fire of a Sniper Rifle. The worst of both worlds.

Yes, it does more damage than a pistol, but not enough to make it viable. The Revolver has been Unvaulted this season, but we can't work out why.

At this point, I'd rather just keep the pickaxe equipped and bludgeon enemies to death. I'm pretty sure it would be more effective. Seriously, don't pick this up.

Hero Weapons

The Hero Weapons are acquired by defeating the heroes who carry them. At the moment, that is just Doctor Doom.

Doctor Doom's Mystical Bomb

Doctor Doom's Mystical Bomb, as well as his Arcane Gauntlets, can be obtained by defeating him at Doom's Domain. He's usually in the new house in the north.

The Mystical Bomb is a hugely powerful blast that takes a couple of seconds to charge up but does massive damage.

It also has a 20-second cooldown.

Doctor Doom's Arcane Gauntlets

The Arcane Gauntlets fire fast projectiles that do a small amount of damage.

However, you dual wield them and they have unlimited ammunition, making them a handy weapon to pick up.

However, other weapons are in the game files, including Groot's Bramble Shield and Silver Surfer's Board. We expect them later in the season.

Mjolnir, Thor's Hammer

We're not sure whether Mjolnir will feature this season, and in what manner.

It is currently available as a glider, but maybe it will appear as a Pickaxe skin like Wolverine's adamantium claws?

Or, it could appear in a similar manner to the Infinity Gauntlet. After all, it is nearly as powerful!

Vaulted Weapons

The following weapons have been vaulted ahead of Chapter 2 Season 4:

  • Launch Pads
  • Tac Shotguns
  • Pistols (Legendary/Epic)
  • Regular SMGs
  • Stink Bomb
  • Hunting Rifles
  • Decoy Bombs
  • Rapid Fire SMGs
