A prototype for the Xbox Series X has been leaked online revealing its ports and design.

The first images of the Xbox Series X prototype have been released.

Posted by a user named Curry Panda on NeoGAF, the images show off all the ports on the back of Microsoft's new console. Thurrott's Brad Samms, an author with extensive insider knowledge has since confirmed the images authenticity.

We can confirm the system will feature:

  • Two USB-A ports
  • Optical audio port
  • Ethernet port
  • HDMI port
  • Power connection

In addition, this particular version also comes with a port for diagnostic reporting highlighting this particular prototype was provided to a developer. It's common practise for game developers to recieve these prototypes well in advance so as to create or port their titles over to the new console.

Expect more images to either be revealed or leaked as we head towards its release.

Microsoft has stated the Xbox Series X will release in the 'holiday' window of 2020. So expect to see it in the September - December months.

Specs and Design

The Xbox Series X has been said to be four times more powerful than the Xbox One and will provide four times better performance than the current generation in terms of load times as well as 120 FPS, 8K resolution and ray tracing capabiltities.

The design is also striking as it looks more akin to a PC tower than a console. Add that with Xbox box titles now starting to be available for PC the line is getting seriously blurred between the two.
