Some characters are simply better than others. Find out who the best Apex Legends are in the latest season here.

With Apex Legends entering its seventh season, we've had a number of new characters join the roster for Respawn's battle royale.

As time has passed, legends have been reworked and fallen out of favour.

We've ranked the best and worst legends for you to get the best experience possible.

Untiered - New Legend

Horizon

We don't know how Horizon will fare in Season 7.The newest Legend has some interesting abilities, but exactly how she will shape up is still yet to be determined!

Her ultimate looks primed to be a useful combo with Rampart’s turret, Caustic’s Gas or Gibraltar’s Defensive Bombardment, and her reduced fall damage could make her difficult to chase. We'll have to wait and see when she drops!

  • Spacewalk - Reduces her fall impacts
  • Gravity Lift - Lift players up vertically, and give them a boost when they exit upwards
  • Black Hole - Draw nearby legends into one spot

S Tier - The best of the best

Apex Legends Wraith

Wraith

Wraith has always been one of the most dominant characters to use especially for those who prefer to rely less on their teammates and more on their own skill.

She's great for solo play due to her small hitbox and its tactical ability, Into The Void, which is great for escaping scary situations.

Even with the cooldown on her Ultimate being increased by a minute in Season 6, she reigns supreme. Just make sure to be more careful when placing those portals.

Long story short, her movement abilities mean she outranks all of her compatriots. And with no tweaks in Season 7, we expect her to stay at this top level!

Abilities:

  • Voices from the Void - You hear a voice when danger approaches. As far as you can tell, it's on your side.
  • Into the Void - Reposition quickly through the safety of "void" space, avoiding all damage.
  • Dimensional Rift - Link two locations with portals for 60 seconds.

Lifeline

One of the most essential characters, Lifeline is still the only true healer the game has, making her a crucial part of any Apex Legends trio.

The number of Lifeline Supply Bins has been increased, and the quality of their extra loot improved, so she's going from strength to strength thanks to her Season 5 and Season 6 buffs, such as her drone being able to revive fallen teammates. Her utility makes her one of the game's best Legends, and in Season 7 she is currentlyreceiving no tweaks, so will likely stay near the top of this list!

Despite the team utility abilities, she actually translates well into solo play. Being able to use healing items 25% faster can potentially make a huge difference in a clutch situation, even though her Lifeline Package serves as a beacon to opponents and lets them know exactly where you are.

Abilities:

  • Combat Medic - Revive knocked down teammates faster while protected by a shield wall. Healing items are used 25% faster.
  • D.O.C heal Drone - The Drone of Compassion will automatically heal those near it over time.
  • Care Package - Call in a drop pod full of high-quality defensive gear and medical supplies.

A Tier - All Good Options

Apex Legends Pathfinder

Pathfinder

The friendly robot we all know and love was neglected heavily when Apex Legends first released, as Pathfinder's special abilities did not offer any direct damage only movement. Not to mention its strange hitbox.

Now, Pathfinder is viewed as one of the core characters to use in competitive play and public matches. The ability to lay down zip-lines and propel yourself behind enemies for better angles is without a doubt one of the best aspects of Pathfinder. Despite constant nerfs, Pathfinder remains a strong pick for your Apex Legends matches.

For Season 7, Pathfinder is facing a couple of tweaks. His hitbox has been made slightly larger, and could also see Low Profile disappear soon too if this doesn't nerf him enough. In addition, we will see the Grappling Hook face a bunch of new changes and tweaks to make it more usable and less punishing if you use it wrong.

The maximum possible cooldown time is 35 seconds, and the distance needed to be travelled to achieve this max time is nearly doubled. Players can also more easily chain into other movement abilities, without penalty, as Pathfinder no longer needs to be on the ground and only has to be moving under 500 units/second (rather than 300) for his grapple to be considered 'ended'.

How theses tweaks will affect his winrate we can't be sure, but Pathfinder is likely to stay up here near the top!

Abilities:

  • Insider Knowledge - Scan a survey beacon to reveal the ring's next location.
  • Grappling Hook - Grapple to get to out-of-reach places quickly.
  • Zipline Gun - Create a zipline for everyone to use.

Apex Legends Wattson

Wattson

Wattson is one of the heavyweights when it comes to defence in Apex Legends. A true team player, she is found in most competitive squads but can feel a little lacking when playing Solo.

Setting up Interception Pylons can be vital for defending a position, especially if the circle is looking small in the latter stages of a game.

In Season 7, her Perimeter Security will deal a bit more damage to enemies, and will still slow them and lets you know exactly where they're pushing from. Information is king, and Wattson is the info queen. Her Season 7 Buffs will hopefully make her a more attractive choice for lower-levels of competitive players!

Abilities:

  • Spark of Genius - Ultimate Accelerants fully charge Wattson's abilities. Standing near Interception Pylons boosts Wattson's Tactical ability recharge rate.
  • Perimeter Security - Create electrified fences by connecting nodes. Fences damage and slows enemies.
  • Interception Pylon - Place an electrified pylon that destroys incoming ordnance and repairs damaged shields as long as it stands (Max: 1).

Apex Legends Gibraltar

Gibraltar

After a slow start in Apex games, Gibraltar was buffed to the extreme. However, multiple subsequent nerfs have seen him drop back down the tiers.

His main strength is the fact that he is Fortified - introduced to make up for his larger hitbox - which means he takes 15% less damage. Combined with a 75HP Gun Shield, he's a bulky boy.

His Dome Shield received a big nerf in Season 5, cutting it down to 12 seconds, and this Season his Ultimate has increased from a three-minute cooldown to four and a half!

The poor guy will still see use, but it's not a great time to be a Gibby main.

Abilities:

  • Gun Shield - Aiming down sights deploys a gun shield that blocks incoming fire.
  • Dome of Protection - Throw down a dome-shield that blocks (allies and enemies) attacks for 18 seconds. Healing items are used 25% faster within the dome.
  • Defensive Bombardment - Call in a concentrated mortar strike on a position you mark with smoke

Mirage

Mirage had some reworks for Season 7, and combined with previous boosts, we'll put him in A-tier.

His upgrades include better cloaking when downed, respawning, and reviving teammates. His decoys also last longer and look more convincing - they are able to mimic his movements - and his Ultimate is similar to the limited-time Emergency Dance Party ability.

To also help his decoys seem more real, they will now carry 45 Hp each, This should help disguise the real Mirage more easily, though they won't shield him or teammates, bullets will pass through them. We think this buff is enough to bump him up, but we'll just have to wait and see!

Abilities:

  • Now You See Me - In addition to cloaking when downed, Mirage also cloaks while using a respawn beacon and reviving a teammate (the teammate is also cloaked).
  • Psyche Out - Pressing the character utility action button allows Mirage to gain control of his decoy. When controlling the decoy, it will mimic Mirage’s every move. Decoys now last for 60 seconds.
  • Life of the Party - Mirage deploys a team of decoys that mimic his every move (think “Emergency Dance Party" from DUMMIEs Big Day). Cooldown 60 seconds.

B Tier - Fun Choices, But Situational

Apex Legends Bloodhound

Bloodhound

Bloodhound received another buff in Season 6; as a Recon character they can access Survey Beacons to get that sweet ring information.

Although Bloodhound's Passive ability doesn't serve much help during matches, their ultimate ability is really good and received another buff in Season 6. Fpr Season 7, there aren't really any changes so they can stay at this tier level!

Acting as a Digital Threat and speed boost in one, knock down and kill enemies to extend the time you are in Beast of the Hunt mode and maximise its usefulness.

Using Bloodhound's Tactical Ability (especially while using their Ultimate, as it all but negates the cooldown) can be useful for identifying threats in new areas or after dopping hot, plus they have some of the best skins in the game!

Abilities:

  • Tracker - Foes leave behind clues for you to find.
  • Eye of the Allfather - Briefly reveal enemies, traps, and clues throughout all structures in front of you.
  • Beast of the Hunt - Transform into the ultimate hunter. Enhances your senses, allowing you to see cold tracks and move faster.

Apex Legends tier list Rampart

Rampart

Rampart is the latest Legend to hit World's Edge, and she's bringing the big guns with her.

Her Amped Shields can be great for defending a position, especially when combined with her Emplaced Minigun "Sheila" to do massive damage.

However, the loud minigun can bring other teams over to join the fight, and the whole thing leaves you very static and exposed - not to mention weak to grenades!

Rampart's biggest strength could be her passive - upgrading LMGs to have larger magazines and quicker reload times could give you the edge in a fight!

In Season 7, Rampart will be buffed slightly, seeing her Cover and 'Shielia' deploy more quickly. They're still better for fortifying a position, but may become more generally useful in a firefight!

Abilities:

  • Modded Loader: Increased magazine capacity and faster reloads when using LMGs and the Minigun.
  • Amped Cover: Build a crouch-cover wall, which deploys a full-cover amped wall that blocks incoming shots and amps outgoing shots.
  • Emplaced Minigun "Sheila": Place a mounted machine gun that anyone can use. High ammo capacity, long reload time.

Caustic

Caustic thrives in close-quarter engagements, his multiple gas traps along with his special cluster gas grenade deal immense damage up close.

For Season 7, Caustic is dropping in our rankings slightly. His gas will be dealing more damage, but will no longer blur the vision of other players. We don't know how this tweak will shape out but we anticipate it will be more nerf than buff.

Abilities:

  • Nox Vision - You gain threat vision on enemies moving through your gas.
  • Nox Gas Trap - Place up to 6 canisters that release deadly Nox gas when shot or triggered by enemies.
  • Nox Gas Grenade - Blankets a large area in Nox gas.

Octane

Besides the mobility options Octane offers to the player, this character does not offer a lot of options offensively or defensively. He has a fantastic encounter win-rate, even if he isn't winning every match as a whole. To help this, Octane will be getting a Swift Mend buff, doubling how much it heals per second from 0.5HP to 1 HP.

Launch Pads can come in handy especially with their new double jump, but any team with Wraith or Loba will be mobile enough without the need for Octane's speed.

Abilities:

  • Swift Mend - While not taking damage, Octane restores health over time.
  • Stim - Move 30% faster for 6 seconds. Costs 10 Health to use. Reduction to slows while active.
  • Launch Pad - Deployable jump pad that catapults users through the air.

Apex Legends Crypto

Crypto

There was a lot of hype around Crypto's release, but he fulfils a much more niche role than expected. However, he's had consecutive buffs which bring his usability up a bit.

Crypto sees a little bit of competitive play - more so than some Legends above him - but his role is simply too niche when in the hands of anyone but a pro player.

His drone now has twice as much health, and can immediately respawn teammates from Respawn Beacons. Now all Recon Legends can access Survey Beacons, use Crypto's drone to quickly get more ring information.

Despite his buffs, you'll still need to team up with some of the best Legends to have any chance of success with Crypto.

Abilities:

  • Neural Link - Squadmates can see what the Aerial Drone detects within a 30-meter radius.
  • Surveillance Drone - Deploys a surveillance drone that can be used to detect enemies and hack objects.
  • Weapon Drone EMP - Charge up an EMP blast from your drone that deals shield damage, slows enemies and disables all traps.

C Tier - Needs Improvement

Apex Legends Bangalore

Bangalore

Although there are better options than Bangalore, her smoke ability is excellent for escaping heavy pressure from enemies. On top of that her ultimate is useful if you can gather a bunch of enemies in a close space or if you want to leave some space between you and them to escape.

However, the Rolling Thunder does a fraction of the damage that Gibraltar's Defensive Bombardment does, and gives enemies plenty of time to clear the area - a decreased cooldown in Season 6 doesn't help it out a lot either, and the reduced fuse time in Season 7 won't probably be enough for her unfortuneately.

Bangalore is a useful starting Legend, but once you've got the ropes, it's best to move on.

Abilities:

  • Double Time - Taking fire while sprinting makes you move faster for a brief time.
  • Smoke Launcher - Fire a high-velocity smoke canister that explodes into a smoke wall on impact.
  • Rolling Thunder - Call in an artillery strike that slowly creeps across the landscape.

Revenant

Everyone's favourite Simulacrum received a couple nerfs through Season 6, and unfortunately he isn't the crazy powerhouse he once was. Revanant still has his uses, and in the right hands could be deadly, but he just isn't going to be as surefire a pick as some other legends anymore, and with no Season 7 buff on the way, he's likely to stay here.

Abilities:

  • Stalker - You crouch-walk faster and climb higher than other Legends.
  • Silence - Throw a device that deals damage and disabled enemy abilities for 10 seconds.
  • Death Totem - Drop a totem that protects those who use it from death for a set amount of time. Instead of being downed or killed, users will return to the totem.

Loba

While seeing loot through walls and being able to set up the Black Market Boutique will help get the loadout you want, the latter can also aid clever enemies. Loba's most powerful is her Tactical Ability, which allows her to instantly teleport wherever she can throw her bracelet.

Though, in Season 7, we've had to place her near the bottom of the list. Loba isn't as useful as once thought and even with her Season 7 buffs to Black Market, we aren't sure she'll be rising up the charts much. It's a shame to see her here, but that's how it is!

Abilities:

  • Eye for Quality - Nearby Epic and Legendary loot can be seen through walls. The range is the same as Black Market Boutique.
  • Burglar’s Best Friend - Teleport to hard-to-reach places or escape trouble quickly by throwing your jump drive bracelet.
  • Black Market Boutique - Place a portable device that allows you to teleport nearby loot to your inventory. Each friendly or enemy Legend can take up to two items.
