Major Tournament Information
Those who top the standings table will be invited to FOUR Apex Legends Global Series Majors, the highest competitive live event tier. The first Major will take place on 13-15th March, 2020.
“Apex Legends is one of the most impactful launches in videogame history and it possesses immense esports potential,” said John Nelson, Apex Legends Competitive Gaming Commissioner.
“Through close communication with our community, we’ve built an accessible Apex Legends ecosystem where any player can become a potential star while the world watches our unique, entertaining take on Battle Royale esports.”
Speaking of the Majors, the first three makors will feature 100 three-player squads. The fourth and final Major, the Apex Legends Global Series Championship, is the Grand Final and will feature only 60 of the top Apex Legends Global Series teams in the world.
All four majors will be using a Match point format (this was used in the Apex Legends Preseason Invititational) to determine their winners unlike other Battle Royale esport competitions.
For those who don't know, the Match Point Format requires teams to reach a points threshold via match placement and accumulated kills.
