ESL One Hamburg completed yesterday, and you have to have a prediction checkup when you’ve gone and tried to predict the entire bracket. Gfinity brings you the results of the event as well as checking how well we did in our predictions post.
TNC Predator were the eventual Champions of the event, winning 3-2 over Gambit Gaming - with the scoreline being very representative of how the games went. Neither team was able to take two games in a row throughout the entire series, with TNC finding themselves against the ropes time and time again to Gambit’s impressive execution.
Where we highlighted TNC’s ability to stay even right upto the point where they can exploit their window perfectly, Gambit was able to respond and make it so that they too made money moves accordingly with itemization and map presence. Gambit and TNC had played four games prior to the grand final in the tournament, and it had been a 4-0 wash in favor of TNC. The adjustments seen from Gambit are particularly exciting, as they point towards a sleeper pick for the upcoming DPC season - especially if they can continue to evolve within a tournament like this.
The overall results came down to:
- 1st place - $125,000 - TNC
- 2nd place - $65,000 - Gambit
- 3rd place - $35,000 - Alliance
- 4th place - $20,000 - Beastcoast
- 5-6th place - $12,000 - ViCi Gaming/Virtus.pro
- 7-8th place - $7,500 - NiP/WaR
- 9-10th place - $5,000 - Fighting Pandas/Quincy Crew
- 11-12th place - $3,000 - Team Liquid/Vikin.gg
Our initial playoffs predictions were as shown. Ultimately, the only place where we were wrong was that Beastcoast defeated WAR and VICI to be taken down by Alliance. Beyond that, many of the playoff games were closer than we expected, but the victors came down to be the same. Gambit went through to take on TNC Predator and weren’t quite able to pull through.
Make sure you read through our reasoning if you’re interested in what time to back going into the next tournament!
