Gamescom 2019 could be the time we finally get to hear more about Dead Island 2. Do you remember Dead Island 2? Not long ago we covered Gamescom 2019 games we hope to see, with Dead Island 2 being one them. Gamescom 2019 will once again return to the Koelmesse GmbH in Cologne, Germany - over 370,000 people attended last year's event and with hundreds of publishers attending this year.
Why Dead Island 2 Will Be At Gamescom 2019
The first Dead Island game was so well received a sequel was put into development shortly after. Five years later, we're still waiting for Dead Island 2. In fairness, it did go through three developer changes but THQ addressed it's future in a presentation earlier this year, saying that it is still in development.
Having originally been announced at E3 2014, early development gameplay was shown off at Gamescom the same year and nothing has been shown since. It would be fitting to see them pick up where they left off, especially after a quiet E3 event and no major.
THQ Nordic are in attendance at this year's exhibition they are planning to be apart of the opening night live event on Monday 19th August and with the number of zombie-based games having rapidly declined in recent years, now would be a perfect time to come back and reinvigorate the genre after its admittedly stale stint.
Not to mention that Sumo Digital, who are currently working on Dead Island 2, having finished their other projects we must expect an announcement soon enough.
It could be that we see this game make it to next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X, which is why we haven't heard much from it recently.
