Sarah "Pookieface" Lynn started streaming four years ago on Twitch.tv and now she is set to host one of the biggest esports events of all time. Pookieface will be one of the desk hosts at the inaugural Fortnite World Cup this weekend and we sat down with her to talk about her journey to where she is now, predictions for this weekend and much much more!
Nick Farrell: "First off, I hope New York City has been good so far! How has the overall atmosphere been in the days before the Fortnite World Cup especially around the city where Fortnite has gone all out promoting the event?"
Pookieface: "New York has been incredible! It’s my first trip to the Big Apple, so I’ve done a little bit of exploring around the city. Central Park is absolutely gorgeous! The atmosphere has been electric. The cast and crew have been buzzing with excitement and anticipation, and we cannot wait to put on an amazing show for our Fortnite Fam! Seeing the Fortnite promos around time square was surreal. To know that I have the opportunity to be part of such a historic event has been mind-blowing."
Nick: "You have been commentating for Fortnite since the qualifiers but for some people, they do not necessarily know who you are. Do you mind just briefly explaining how you got into Fortnite commentating and how it has been?"
Pookieface: "I started streaming on Twitch about 4 years ago and was asked to work on Paragon esports events with Epic. When I started playing Fortnite, I fell in love. The opportunity arose for me to be a part of the Fortnite casting team and I was so excited to accept. This journey has been absolutely incredible. I’ve learned so much along the way and can’t wait to see where it all goes next!"
Nick: "The Fortnite Pro-Am is also slated to kick off soon, who is your personal favorite duos in the event and who do you think will take it all for charity?"
Pookieface: "Aydan and Robert Abisi from Lost Kings had an incredible showing at the last ProAm, coming in second place. They’re incredibly strong as a duo, so I cannot wait to see how they perform today."
Nick: "Moving onto the solo and duo portions of the Fortnite World Cup, there are loads of incredible talent from veterans to players playing on LAN for the very first time. After the dust is settled both days who do you think will be the newest esports millionaire in both events?"
Pookieface: "For the duos competition, I’m really liking E11’s Stompy and Tschiiinken to take home the title of World Cup champions. They’re incredibly consistent and have mass amounts of mechanical skill. In terms of solos, there are so many talented players that have a shot. It’s really anyone’s game, but if I had to make a prediction, I’d have to choose FaZe Dubs or 100 Thieves Ceice. Both of them have the ability to stay calm under stressful situations, but also go full send when they need to. In a LAN environment, they’ll need both."
Nick: "At the end of this interview, I would like to say thank you for taking the time to do this! Also, is there anything you would like to say to your fans and supporters before you host the biggest esports event ever?"
Pookieface: "Thank you all so much for believing in me. Without you guys cheering me on, I'd still just be that girl who sits alone in her room, yelling at her monitor. See you all this weekend!"
