Apex Legends Pro ImperialHal Wants the Kraber Removed From Competitive

Philip 'ImperialHal' Dosen is known by fans as the CEO of Apex. As well as being the IGL of one of the most successful Apex Legends esports teams, Team SoloMid, he is one of the game's biggest streamers on Twitch. He and TSM will be one of the favourites to win the ALGS Year 2, so when he has an opinion on balancing the game, people listen.

The Kraber is the best gun in Apex Legends. There's no beating about the bush on this one. The sniper rifle is only found in Care Packages, so it's rare that you come across one, but if you do, you're in for a world of fun.

Click a head and you can do as much as 348 damage - provided your opponent only has a basic helmet - and combined with the fact that it can do collateral damage to players behind, it can get pretty brutal. Even a body shot will wipe out an opponent's armour in one hit. It's little wonder that ImperialHal wants it removed.

The Kraber is so good that it almost feels like a cheat code when you're climbing the Apex Legends ranked ladder - it's just its rarity that stops it from feeling overpowered. You are rewarded handsomely for your luck if your dare jump out in the open to retrieve a Care Package.

However, when you're playing for a slice of $5 million, such a powerful weapon can be the difference between paying your rent next month or not.

ImperialHal points out that other items deemed unfair are removed from the ALGS, so why not the Kraber? He also agrees with a response suggesting that all Care Package weapons should be removed from the esport - but he believes that the Care Packages themselves offer a good risk/reward option for shields, meds, and attachments.

He also makes the argument that while the Kraber is fun in pubs, its one-tap potential when compared to the TTK of other weapons in Apex is what makes it so unbalanced.

What do you make of the Kraber in ALGS tournaments? It can create epic moments, for sure, but is it too powerful to maintain competitive integrity?
