Next-gen consoles are literally only weeks away and early copies out in the wild are beginning to give us glimpses of the power the PS5 and Xbox Series X contain.
But for those still looking to enjoy the hits from this generation, you’ll be glad to know you can enjoy your favourite games even more than before.
For a while, we’ve known that Apex Legends and other hits like Fortnite will be heading to next-gen, but not how well they will run on the new hardware.
It’s been all well and good hearing Microsoft and Sony big up their respective machines, but over the weekend some gamers were finally able to try the Xbox Series X for themselves.
How Well Does Apex Legends Run Next Generation?
Apart from knowing that the game will work, we weren’t too sure what Apex Legends would look like on the Xbox Series X.
There were no direct promises from EA or Respawn regarding any technical enhancements.
But thanks to the Verge’s Tom Warren we finally have our first look at next-gen Apex Legends.
Apex Legends will take only 28 seconds to load.
We also saw Warren share a video of himself using ‘quick resume’ to seamlessly swap between Apex Legends and Forza Motorsport 7.
The load times do not seem that impressive a leap from this generation, and it is difficult to make out any improved graphics from the video he posted.
Though a phone recording of a TV screen won’t be doing Apex any justice.
So while things certainly seem better, on the Apex Legends front, the improvements aren’t mindblowing, at least on the Series X front.
Though it is possible that Respawn has yet to release an Xbox Series X update for the game, so perhaps come the actual launch Apex Legends will be more optimised for the new consoles?
Once we hear anything about the PS5 we’ll be sure to update you all!
