Apex Legends Season 4 is here, the battle royale keeps adding to its excellent range of weaponry.

The Sentinel is has been added, but you shouldn't forget about the fan favourite R-99.

This sub-machine gun offers decent damage, and with the right attachments can be one of the best weapons you’ll find on World’s Edge.

Here are our tips on how to find one, what you should be looking to equip it with, and how to make the most of it.

Where To Find The R-99

In short, you can find the R-99 in most areas and not necessarily those with the best loot. That means it can be an ideal early game weapon.

What Attachments And Ammo Does It Take?

The R-99 can tear through unshielded enemies in a heartbeat, but without attachments, you’ll find its utility limited in the mid-to-late game stages.

Thankfully, there are plenty to choose from. In terms of optics, you can grab a Holo, HCOG, 2x HCOG, variable Holo and Digital Threat.

For the rest, you can use a barrel stabilizer, extended mag, and standard stock. All of those are available with multiple rarities.

For our money, the key thing to grab is an extended mag and any optic. The rifle isn’t great at range, but up-close it can be a bullet hose if you can ensure it doesn't run out of ammo.

Thankfully, the R-99 uses light ammo which is plentiful, so you can continue stocking up over the course of a match.

R-99 Tips And Tricks

The R-99 is an ideal weapon for indoor firefights, with a rapid rate of fire and speedy movement while aiming down the sights.

While it offers the second-highest SMG capacity, it’s still crying out for an extended mag because each shot actually does less damage than any other SMG.

A barrel stabilizer is also ideal, as the gun has a tendency to thrash about with recoil. For anything long-range, consider something else, like the R-301.
