Apex Legends Arenas Won't Influence Future Legend Designs, Respawn Says

Respawn is working on a new Apex Legends Legend, which is no surprise in itself, but designer Daniel Klein said this next Legend is going to be a bit different.

Despite Apex Legends Arenas being recently introduced in Season 9, Klein told YouTuber Raynday the next Legend won’t be designed with Arenas in mind.

They’ll have “some really really cool abilities, that will just not apply to Arenas gameplay at all,” Klein said.

Instead, their abilities are geared toward battle royale completely, and Klein said that will remain Respawn’s focus when designing other Legends in the future.

“We have to design for the BR, and that is not changing,” Klein said.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the new Legend’s “really cool abilities” can’t be used in Arenas.

“As long as there is something they can do in Arenas, we know we can balance that for something,” Klein said.

Every existing Legend has abilities that work in Arenas already, though it is interesting to note Arenas doesn’t factor into Respawn’s design process, regardless of how popular it’s been so far.
