When Monark was first announced, it got a lot of fans talking since the game was being developed by staff that used to work on the Shin Megami Tensei titles.
It didn’t take long before details for the ‘New School RPG’ were announced and now we have plenty of information on Monark thanks to NIS America.
Monark Game: Western Release Date, Trailer, Battle System, And More
So, for those curious about this ‘New School RPG’ from the staff that brought you some of the Shin Megami Tensei games, here’s everything you need to know.
Western Release Date
Though a definitive release date for Monark hasn’t been given yet, NIS America has confirmed that the game will be coming to the West in early 2022, while Japan and Asia get it this October.
Monark will be coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in the West so everyone except Xbox players can enjoy the game, unless NIS America changes their minds.
You can check out the Monark Trailer below, which details the story, some of the game’s characters, and the combat.
It definitely has shades of the Shin Megami Tensei games, though the combat looks completely different. Speaking of combat…
Free Movement Battle System
In the trailer, we get a glimpse of the self-dubbed ‘Free Movement Battle System’ in Monark, which is a departure from the mainline SMT games.
Looking more like Fire Emblem, players will control ‘Fiends’ in fields, commanding them to attack their foes.
Players will also be able to customize the look of their Fiends and it will be interesting to see if they need to be persuaded to join the player ala SMT.
English And Japanese Voice Acting
Doesn’t matter if you’re an anime fan who prefers subs over dubs because Monark will have both.
This shouldn’t be a big deal but anime games like One Piece still get released without an English dub so fans will appreciate this.
