How To Make a Perfect Vacation Home
To make a perfect vacation home for your client, you should follow a few basic but highly important steps. Taking the decoration and renovation of a vacation home is a time-consuming task but the client will appreciate it if you get it right.
Listen Carefully in the Client Meeting
When you're meeting with a client, you will be told all of the important details about their vision for their dream home. There are two key areas you need to listen out for:
- The name of the home - The name they give to their dream vacation home will give you a clue as to how to decorate it. For example "Bungalow of Cozy Baskets" means the client will ideally want a space filled with basket-like furniture.
- Their furniture requests - The client will have 3 or 4 pieces of furniture that they will want to be in their dream home. If you're missing any of these pieces when you decorate their home, it will not be a huge success.
Put Their Requested Furniture Out First
The furniture that clients request will already be in the homes when you arrive. To get the pieces out of their boxes, walk up to them and press A. If you want to clear the entire space then you can put these items into your pockets without fear of losing them. However, the ideal thing to do is make sure they're the first items that you place as this way you can be sure that you've satisfied an important part of your client's request.
If in Doubt, Use the Order Furniture
When you're in normal mode or in decoration mode (press down on your directional pad), you can press right on your directional pad to view all of the furniture items that are available to you. The section that you want to look at is titled "Order" and you can find this in one of the tabs at the top of this section.
Furniture that is in the order section are pieces recommended by Paradise Planning for your client. They're pieces of furniture that will easily satisfy the client's request and you can be sure that if you use them, you will come close to making the home perfect. Also, you can find the client's request furniture right at the top of the list in case you lose it.
Watch the Client’s Reactions
When you place items in the home, keep an eye on your client. They can give off little signals that will indicate how they feel about the piece you've decided to put in. For example, an exclamation mark above their head means they're surprised at your choice and a love heart will indicate that they adore the item. This is a good way of figuring out if the item is the right choice for the client.
Use Different Angles When Decorating
Using different viewing angles whilst decorating a client's dream vacation home will allow you to ensure that you're placing furniture and items in the best places. Sometimes a piece of furniture will look great from an overhead viewpoint, but it may look terrible when you re-enter the room properly. If you switch angles throughout the decorating process, you will be able to keep track of how the room looks from all viewpoints.
Don’t Forget the Wall Decorations!
You can decorate the walls too so don't forget about them! Wall decorations can give a client's home that personal touch that can truly make the home feel like their own. You will typically have a few options for wall décor under the Order section on the furniture screen.
Outdoors Is as Important as Indoors
Decorating outdoors is just as important as decorating indoors. Sometimes the furniture that a client requests will not fit in with the theme of the décor that you have chosen for their interior. Luckily, the requested furniture can also be placed outside in the garden or yard of the home. The outdoor space is another easy way of elevating the home to become the client's ideal one.
