In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 2.0, there are two different ways of acquiring Glowing Moss and Vines. As with most materials, when you encounter Glowing Moss and Vines, you can gather them by approaching them and pressing 'Y' on your Nintendo Switch controller. We've gone into depth about both ways to acquire the materials below:

Kapp'n's Island Tours

Once per day, you can speak with Kapp'n and request that he takes you on a tour to a random island. For 1000 Nook Miles, you'll set sail to a distant land. These islands differ to Mystery Islands, as they'll be a haven for collecting materials and can be set in different seasons and time zones. This means you have the ability to collect various seasonal-only resources all year round!

On occasion, Kapp'n will take you to an island that is rife with Glowing Moss and Vines for you to gather. Of course, this is random, so it might take a while before you encounter one of these islands. Happy Home Paradise DLC

If you're an owner of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons paid DLC, you'll be able to gather even more Glowing Moss and Vines using it. Whenever you head to work, the island in which your office will be situated on will host a wealth of the materials that you can gather. If you're currently taking on a client, you will need to wait until you have finished your work with them before collecting any more Glowing Moss or Vines.

Additionally, every time you visit an island with Kapp'n, you'll be able to collect a message in a bottle containing a DIY Recipe from the beaches surrounding the island. If you're lucky enough to arrive at an island that contains Glowing Moss and Vines, it's almost a guarantee that the DIY Recipe you collect will require these.

Vines are super useful, as they can be placed around your island and act as a form of permanent ladder that looks natural. Simply approach a cliff, go to the vine in your inventory and select 'Hang One on Cliff'. The materials can also be used for crafting caves to decorate your island, or furniture such as hanging chairs for your home. With this in mind, don't forget to purchase the Pro Decorating License to really make the most out of hanging items from your ceilings!
