Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise lets you design the dream vacation homes of multiple different characters. You're in charge of making their dreams come true and you can go the extra mile to make their homes feel special. This is where polishing comes in. How To Polish
Once you have unlocked the polishing ability, all you need to do is press L to equip it. You will know when it's equipped as you will have changed into your polishing outfit. When your polishing ability has been equipped, you need to walk up to any piece of furniture that you can reach and press A (high up photos or wall art cannot be polished). If you press A once you will give it a light polish but if you press and hold A until your character stops polishing, you will have given the object a thorough polish.
How To Unlock Polishing
After you finish the house for your third client, you will see that Wardell is polishing in the Paradise Planning Office. When you're about to finish your next client's home (client 4), Niko will stop you and teach you how to polish. You will then need to polish at least one of the pieces of furniture in this home. Once you've done this, finish up with the client and head back to the Paradise Planning office. You will now know how to polish.
How To Get Extra Polishing Effects
When you are coming to the end of completing the home for your twelfth client, Niko will stop you and let you know about more polishing effects that you can use. To access these effects you need to press L to enter polishing mode then press + to open the effects menu. You should see this:
Click on which effect you want to apply to an object while polishing it and polish as normal.
What Is Polishing?
Polishing is a little bit of extra detail that you can give to a client's home. Polishing makes the furniture items quite literally sparkle and you can take this skill back to your own home. Unfortunately, you will not be able to polish any furniture items outside of your home.
