Players Are Review-Bombing Due To The Island Limit

Disgruntled players of the new Switch release have taken to Metacritic to leave negative reviews.

Almost every negative comment concerns New Horizons' multiplayer, and specifically the way in which only one island can be created per Nintendo Switch system.

As is the nature of the angry gamer, rather than assessing all aspects of the game, and weighing up the pros and cons, users have taken the opportunity to drag the game down with a score of zero, just... because.

Here are just a few of the angry comments:

  • "The limitation of one island per Switch (not per cartridge, per Switch) is nonsensical. It‘s obvious Nintendo is just trying to sell more Switch consoles... Sorry but this is an instant 0/10".
  • "If you have more than one person in your home that wants to play the game, you need two Switches. Worst decision I have ever seen, this even beats EA. Congratulations Nintendo, you have officially become the worst video game company this year".

How Many Islands Can You Have In Animal Crossing New Horizons?

Surprising many fans, islands in New Horizons are console-based, as opposed to account-based.

That means every Nintendo Switch console offers an island that all users on that Switch play on. So no matter how many players you have enjoying the same copy of the game, every user will share the same Switch.

That means that while you can build a fresh home on the island, you're never truly starting your new life on your own. Might be time to pick up a second console, after all.
