Getting iron nuggets in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Iron Nuggets can be found by hitting rocks with a shovel or an axe. If you hit a rock repeatedly without stopping, you may be able to get multiple resources out of it. However, if you have eaten a piece of fruit and hit a rock with one of these tools, the rock will shatter. You may get only one resource from the rock if you do this. Another rock will appear on your island in a few days to replace the one you destroyed.

These rocks are not restricted to your island, as you can use a Nook Miles ticket to visit an island and hit the rocks there. Also, you can visit an island with Kapp'n or go to a friend's Island and repeat the rock-hitting steps there.
