Animal Crossing New Horizons police station

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the latest instalment in the classic Nintendo series and the first game available on Nintendo Switch. In the series' past games, some players grew accustomed to certain gameplay items and buildable objects. One of those objects is the police station, which players could construct to keep order on their island.

Naturally, with New Horizons, players of the past games have wondered if they can construct a police station in the new game. After all, who else will maintain order on the island?

This guide explains whether you can get a police station in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

What does the police station do?

In previous Animal Crossing games, such as New Leaf, the police station was a public works project costing 264,000 Bells. The role of the station was to deal with any pesky villagers that troubled the island and to store lost items. Up to 20 items could be stored in the police station that were free for players to take as they pleased.

Can you get a police station in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Police Station is sadly not a buildable structure anymore. Instead, players can report villagers to Isabelle at the town hall if they witness any trouble being caused. As for lost items, they will be stored in the recycling container that is also located in the town hall.

Currently, there appear to be no plans to reintroduce the police station to New Horizons, but we'll be sure to update this space if that changes.
