Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Catch Fleas

Of all the bugs to find in Animal Crossing New Horizons, Fleas are one of the trickiest, as there's actually a little bit of a puzzle involved to finding and catching them. We'll show you how to catch fleas here (without actually getting infested) so you can donate them to Blathers' museum.

How to Catch Fleas in Animal Crossing New Horizons

To catch Fleas in Animal Crossing New Horizons, players need to check their villagers. Between April and November (Northern Hemisphere) or October and May (Southern Hemisphere), you might notice they have little black dots wandering across their body.

Speaking to them will confirm what you suspect, as they'll mention feeling itchy and unwell. This means that they've caught Fleas and are currently infested. Now you need to cure and contain this problem.

Getting Fleas From Villagers

To get a Flea off your villagers, simply hit them once with your bug net, as though you were catching any other insect. This actually pulls the bug off the villager and adds it to your inventory, curing them and catching the flea all in one go. From there you can hand it in to Blathers, or sell it for a paltry 70 Bells.

If you're struggling to catch Fleas, there's no way to prompt them to appear on your poor townsfolk. It's just a matter of luck and patience for when they'll show up.

Until then though, there's all matter of things you can do in Animal Crossing! Check out how to catch great white sharks and more, or find out how you can get a Golden Slingshot here.
