Returnal: How to Break Obolite Chunks

As you explore the many biomes of Returnal you will want to make sure you are collecting as many Obolites as you can. This means breaking Obolite Chunks that you find, as they usually contain a fair amount of the yellow currency. Problem is, you won't be able to break them at first, and will need to unlock a specific weapon before you can. How to Break Obolite Chunks in Returnal

To break Obolite Chunks in Returnal you will first need to unlock the Atropian Blade. You can read more about that in our Returnal Melee guide. Once you have this weapon, you just need to press square and hit the chunk. This will break it and give you the Obolites within.

Malignant Chunks

There are actually two kinds of Obolite Chunks found in Returnal. This one is purple and gives you Obolites with the caveat of having a high Malignancy chance. Take care when breaking these, as there's a good chance you'll trigger a malfunction.
