This film delves into the fortress that is Helm’s Deep, one of the pivotal locations that appeared in The Twin Towers:

It is set hundreds of years before filmmaker Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, which included a lengthy battle sequence taking place at the fortress. The anime film will also dive into the blood-soaked era of the mighty king of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand.

The project is a joint venture between Warner Bros. Animation and New Line Cinema. The stand-alone film will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama, of Blade Runner: Black Lotus (another anime project). The executive producer of Peter Jackson’s projects, Philippa Boyens, is also attached to the movie.

The Lord of the Rings is hot right now, as we finally got our first preview for Amazon’s big-budget series, The Rings of Power. A new videogame in Gollum is also coming, which allows you to play as the precious former Stoor Hobbit.

We could see even more Middle Earth projects in the future, as the rights to Tolkien’s projects are being re-auctioned and could sell for an extortionate $2 billion.
