Civilization might be one of the most beloved strategy franchises of all time, but it's been a while since we've seen a new entry.

Civilization 6 launched all the way back in 2016 and has since been ported to mobile and console since.

Since then, we've seen sizeable expansions, new Scenario Packs, and even the New Frontier Pass which offers bite-sized chunks of DLC at a lower cost. With all that DLC, many have wondered if we're overdue a new title - here's all we know.

Is Civilization 7 Confirmed?

Alas, at the time of writing, it's a no. That said, developer Firaxis is expected to reveal some new games in 2021.

Still, a pair of job listings have suggested that if Firaxis isn't actively in development yet, then it may well be staffing up.

There was a six-year gap between Civilization V and Civilization VI, though, so it could just be a case of being patient.

That said, we did get spin-offs like Beyond Earth and Revolution 2 between those, so maybe developer Firaxis will surprise us with something entirely new.

As we noted before, though, with so much DLC, it could be quite some time before we see a fresh mainline game in the series as Firaxis continues to grow Civ 6.

In fact, the shortest gap between games was between Civilization 3 and 4, and even then it was four years.

Would you prefer a new game, or are you happy to see Civilization 6 continue to grow? Let us know in the comments.
