For years, fans have been waiting on an Alan Wake sequel. Based around best-selling thriller novelist Alan Wake, Remedy Entertainment's original action-adventure had us uncover the mystery surrounding his wife's disappearance in Bright Falls, Washington. Released in 2010, it ended on a cliffhanger that's left fans hopeful for a sequel ever since.
While Alan Wake's American Nightmare was more of a spin-off, we finally got some information with Control's AWE expansion, confirming both games are set within the same universe. Jeff Grubb previously stated that Remedy are now working with Epic Games to make Alan Wake 2 and now, Remedy's financial reports have given us further details.
Alan Wake Sequel Appears To Be Heading Into Full Production
Speaking as part of their Q1 2021 business review, CEO Tero Virtala confirmed "Remedy’s AAA game project with Epic Games is soon moving into full production", also stating that a "second, smaller-scale game continues in full production mode". You can read the full financial report here.
Even if it's not Alan Wake 2, Virtala's comments suggest this project with Epic Games is still in the early days. We'll have to wait for further details but given Remedy's intent to setup a Connected Universe, we're optimistic Alan will return soon.
