After a rocky start, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 is shaping up to kick the controversial CoD sequel into overdrive. With the Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 release date just around the corner, fans are already excited following the content’s new roadmap.
Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 aims to add new MW3 maps, even more MW3 guns, new operators, game modes and even the next act of the Zombies campaign. Compared to the first season of last year’s CoD, there’s a tonne on offer here, and fans agree.
In a post on the Modern Warfare 3 subreddit, fans praised the new update for being substantially better than Season 1 of last year’s MW2. While MW2 did launch in a better state, its first season was rather dire in comparison.
Fans of the new game believe that the season updates to Modern Warfare 2 were lacklustre, with one fan even referring to the first season as a “snoozefest”. However, with the sheer gulf of content available in the first Modern Warfare 3 update, fans are already more excited about the game than before.
“This is gonna be so lit. I feel like a kid again. I’m so hyped by these maps, and team gunfight, and 2v2,” one fan said. “Yup. Sledgehammer is cooking,” replied another.
While most fans seem happy about the new update, others are not so pleased. With Modern Warfare 3 launching in a state that many have referred to as “$70 DLC”, the addition of so much new content isn’t making up for the lack of content on launch for some.
“It's all just stuff they're purposely withholding,” one fan ranted. “This sh*t is done and has been done and should've been in the game to begin with.”
Sledgehammer Games’ work on Modern Warfare 3 has been criticised, especially for a rushed campaign that is one of the worst in the series, and doesn’t earn its big twist. However, recent reports also reveal that the game’s development lasted just 16 months, far shorter than most Call of Duty titles.
