LEC 2021: Fnatic, MAD Lions Top Week 2 Of LEC Playoffs


The second week of the LEC Summer Split 2021 Playoffs saw three matches of top-notch display of League of Legends skills from the remaining teams in the tournament as the road to the Worlds come closer to its grandest destination.

Fnatic vs Misfits Gaming

A classic 5-game match opened the 2nd week of the LEC playoffs courtesy of Fnatic and Misfits Gaming, wherein it was the former who prevailed overall and ended the series with a bang, eventually eliminating the latter in the process.

Fnatic won games 1, 3, and 5, while it was Misfits who won games 2 and 4. Both teams showed their hearts out and provided everyone with a high level of LOL gameplays. But Fnatic got the upper hand at the end, securing their bout with G2 Esports who went down the lower bracket after being defeated by Rogue last week.

MAD Lions vs Rogue

Number three team MAD Lions outlasted number one team Rogue in their Winners’ Finals match in a dominant fashion of scoring a 3-0 sweep to send Rogue in the lower bracket, who will face the winner of Fnatic vs G2 Esports later that night. Though this may be an upset for Rogue, they still have secured their spot in the Worlds despite their loss.

The final match of the week saw Fnatic once again proving that they are a Worlds-worthy team after the drew a 3-2 victory over G2 Esports to secure their spot in the biggest League of Legends competition this year.

Even it was G2 Esports who went for match point in game 4 after they won games 1 and 3, Fnatic turned the tables and continued their momentum to win games 2, 4, and 5, closing out the series, 3-2. They will face Rogue in the Loser’s Finals wherein the winner will face MAD Lions in the LEC Summer Split 2021 Grand Finals.
