The campaign early access window for Modern Warfare 3 is now open and while there's plenty of discussion surrounding the campaign length, many are already earning several trophies and achievements that are on offer. Frozen Tundra is not an Open Combat Mission, meaning you have to follow a more linear path to complete the objective.

Modern Warfare 3 Frozen Tundra mission walkthrough

After a successful extraction of Nolan in Highrise, Frozen Tundra sees a reunion of Task Force 141 and long-time ally Farah who's attempting to clear the name of Urzikstan following the plane crash. The team heads to Siberia as the chase for Makarov continues.

Ambush the convoy

The mission begins underwater as Price and Gaz lay down some C4 explosives underneath the ice. The detonation is successful and the search for Makarov begins. Search the vehicles for Makarov.

Instead of finding Makarov, you come across another prisoner. Extract them from the vehicle then head to the surface. To the surprise of Price, Gaz, and Soap, the prisoner pulled from the convoy is General Shepherd. Reluctantly, Price agrees for the general to tag along with the trio.

Escort Shepherd

With Shepherd the latest, and most unlikely member of Task Force 141, begin escorting the General through the forest. Utilise the thermal optics to spot nearby enemies through the bright white snow and fog.

After clearing out the first wave of enemies, a sniper wearing thermal camouflage opens fire. They're taking cover behind one of the larger trees dead ahead. They're armoured so unleash a barrage of bullets into them before advancing.

With the sniper long gone, you'll come across a small hut with a truck parked outside. There's a handful of Konni Group personnel which are easy to eliminate. Don't let the snipers reposition as they're particularly hard to spot in the snow.

Move straight ahead and escort Shepherd to the secondary landing zone which is already full of resistance. Thankfully, Farah is providing some backup making it easy to clear up the mess.

Clear the mill

The abandoned wood mill is the scene for the next firefight with Konni Group. There are lots of places for the opposition to hide so be sure to check your corners when moving around.

After clearing the nearby area, regroup with Farah and head down towards the frozen river bed. The wind starts to pick up before you come across a frozen cargo ship and shipping containers stuck in the ice. A Konni Group helicopter departs the area, hinting at a potential ambush.

As expected, an ambush appears. There are plenty of armoured soldiers around and to avoid running out of ammo, pick up a Kastov from the ground as there are plenty of extra bullets lying among fallen enemies. Take out everyone on both sides of the shipyard.

Once done, regroup with Ghost who's laying waste to any Konni Group with pinpoint precision.

Survive the assault

Shortly after reuniting with the masked enigma once again, several Konni Group vehicles attempt to halt your progress. Thankfully, the frozen boat contains a grenade launcher and an RPG which make light work of the SUVs.

Once they're all clear, Nikolai and his helicopter make their arrival providing a route to safety. A cutscene triggers where Task Force 141 and Laswell circle Shepherd where he shares Makarov's next steps.
