What is the best Modern Warfare 3 Pickaxe loadout?

To compensate for their range, melee weapons often perform best with an assault rifle. Similarly, a submachine gun will make sure anyone at medium range is still in peril. A sniper rifle like the Signal 50 can also help if you're hoping to score kills at long range.

When we've had more time with Modern Warfare 3 and the pickaxe, this guide will be updated to give more specifics. For now, a meta hasn't emerged yet, so you should try to have some fun with your loadouts.

Best Modern Warfare 3 Pickaxe perks and equipment

If you want your pickaxe to get more than cobblestone, you'll need to bring perks and equipment that are well-suited to the melee weapon. Below, we've listed some excellent choices.

Perks

• Vest: Infantry
• Gloves: Ordnance
• Boots: Covert sneakers
• Gear: Bone conduction headset

In the vest slot, you'll benefit most from the infantry perk. It increases the length of your tactical sprint and recharges it faster, especially useful when you're closing in for a kill.

You'll want your gloves to use the ordnance perk. With it, you'll throw equipment further and have timers reset on the grenades you throw back, setting up some excellent opportunities for kills.

On your boots slot, consider the covert sneakers. Silent footsteps will help you rack up kills and get around the map with less resistance.

Your gear slot will prove the bone conduction headset invaluable. You'll hear footsteps and gunfire more clearly, making you aware of enemies' positions and able to plan around them more effectively.

Equipment

• Lethal: Semtex
• Tactical: Battle Rage

If you're being chased by enemies or hunting one down, the Semtex can help you end them with its sticky explosion. Battle Rage provides a more straightforward boost, regenerating health and tactical sprint while providing resistance to equipment. It'll let you rush in for a quick kill.

Is the Modern Warfare 3 Pickaxe meta?

It's very unlikely that the Pickaxe will be a significant part of the meta. It's got some great damage and range, but bringing a mining tool to a gunfight isn't a great idea. You can still get some kills with the Pickaxe, especially when using our loadout above, but don't rely on it too heavily.
