Dragon's Dogma 2 vocations explained
Here are some short summaries of all the vocations from Dragon's Dogma 2
Fighter
The Dragon's Dogma Fighter uses the quintessential sword and shield. They're useful for close combats and land swift strikes on formidable enemies. It's one of the basic vocations and is a powerful shield hero who protects his team against waves of foes with heavy damage.
Both your sword and shield have their own attached skill. While the shield deflects and defends, the sword dishes out the onslaught of attacks and jumps/rushes at enemies for more critical hits.
For example, at Rank 4, you learn Hindsight Slash, where you jump backwards and rush forward with a dashing blow, letting you evade first and attack later. Similarly, the Sheltered Spike for Rank 4 shield, guards your character while letting out a barrage of stabbing attacks.
Archer
If you like ranged attacks and long-distance combat systems, the Archer vocation is for you. Archers get various kinds of arrows and, while the attack hits are not as powerful as Dragon's Dogma 2's other more physical vocations, the attack speed makes up for it.
Archers are great crowd controllers with AoE skills who shoot out multiple arrows to take down larger mobs. Similarly, your poison skill can inflict deadly damage, which piles on stronger mini-bosses and bosses. Not to forget, Archery skills include fire arrows that can shoot down enemies in no time.
While Archers are ideal for long-distance battles, ensure to never go near challenging foes as this vocation can be vulnerable in close-quarters combat.
Thief
Quickness and high damage rates are what make the Thief vocation a popular choice among players. A Thief excels in dealing positional damages while letting its melee-range physical attack and quickness take the lead.
Close in on your enemies and slash out your dagger for quick strikes to dominate the battles. Similar to Archers, the Thief's damage rate is relatively lower than its melee counterparts but makes up with its nimble moves and ability to sneak in on enemies and finish them quickly.
Mage
Mage is the perfect vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2 for sorcery fans on account of its effective spell-casting abilities. It can buff up teammates with weapon and attack enhancements and heal them whenever required.
Mage builds are low on physical defence, health, and stamina but have optimum magic defence and strong spellcasting abilities to make them useful supports in team compositions.
As a Mage, you can benefit from core skills like Feather Jump for an increased leap height and Magic Bolt to shoot down a bolt and deal hefty damage to a target. Its support skills include Blearing, which casts a sigil on a teammate, blinding foes who enter the area, and Holy Boon, which cases a teammate's weapon with holy light.
Mystick Spearhead
Want to try out both melee and magic damage at the same time? Then Mystick Spearhead might become your preferred vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2.
Dabble into magick and melee with your Duospear. While the magick skills let you remotely throw objects at enemies from afar, the physical range combat mechanics deal substantial damage to nearby enemies.
Keep in mind that the Mystick Spearhead is not a beginner-level class. You have to rank your character from Pawn to Arisen by challenging the Dragon to use this vocation.
Magick Archer
The Magick Archer is a limited class available after you reach the Arisen Ranks. You'll need 1,500 Discipline Points to switch from your current class to this vocation.
As a Magick Archer, you can equip both Staves and Daggers for your primary weapons and craft Magickal Arrows. For your secondary weapon, you get access to the Magick Bows, which use the Magickal Arrows. These Arrows are far superior and stronger than regular Archer Arrows and can cover wider areas for more devastating damage.
Being a Hybrid vocation, the Magick Archer uses both Magick and Strength to dish out an array of skills through all equipable armours and weapons.
