Though the arrival of Diablo 4’s Season of the Malignant was arguably overshadowed by a controversial patch, plenty of players have still delved into it and set about trying to find items that can take their characters to the next level.
Some of these hardcore Hellspawn have even managed to stumble across a Malignant Heart that offers a permanent buff. Unfortunately, others have been less lucky, encountering some frustrating bugs.
In the wake of Friday’s Campfire Chat about the game’s next big patch, one Sorcerer has decided to break down exactly how the planned revisions to the struggling class revealed so far compare to the current state of play.

While the full patch notes for Patch 1.1.1 aren’t set to be released until August 2, in the wake of this latest developer stream, Reddit user Mephistito has had a go at putting together an illustration of how the changes announced or hinted at thus far could change the class’ situation.
“I thought [it’d be good] to compare the before/after of all Sorcerer related changes, so we could more easily see the bigger picture of trends and how things are shifting [and by how much],” they outlined at the beginning of their post on the Diablo 4 subreddit.
Having listed every alteration incoming to aspects, skills, and paragons alongside the previous iteration of each, in addition to some more general adjustments planned for the class, Mephistito added: “This ended up taking forever to do, but [it’s] interesting to see them all side-by-side.”
While the general feeling among players ahead of Patch 1.1.1’s arrival on August 8 seems to be pretty positive, the thread that followed the post saw a number of Sorcerers share their cynicism regarding how effective the currently proposed revisions could be.
“I'm afraid these changes won't be enough to make a lot of the skills feel functional,” argued user KingEsoteric, continuing: “I understand that these patch notes are not complete, but the nature of the notes makes me feel like the developers only believe that some number changes, not gameplay mechanic changes, are necessary.”
“I expected some serious direct buffs for hydra and again got nothing,” said user Jurass, while Ryxxi mused: “They haven't touched so many uniques.”
On the other hand, some of those in the thread were more positive, such as user echo2omega, who said: “[It’s a] nice list of some really good looking changes [on paper]. Hopefully [it] works out well in practice.”
As always, it’s important to wait for the finalised list of patch notes to be confirmed before coming to a proper conclusion on them.
