Breakdown

  • Like a bat out of hell, Castlevania is heading to Dead by Daylight.
  • It has not been confirmed what Survivor or Killer will be in the chapter.
  • More information around the Castlavania chapter will be released on August 6.

Dead by Daylight has had plenty of banger chapters, especially with its latest reveal of Dungeons and Dragons' lich villain, the nefarious Vecna. But as we quickly learned during the horror game's 8th-anniversary stream, a Dead by Daylight Castlevania chapter is also on the way.

A gothic, horror-action-adventure video game series created and developed by Konami back in 1986, it follows the tales of the Belmont clan of vampire hunters and their nemesis, Count Dracula.

The majority of its entries are side-scrolling action platformers. However, by the time the 2010s rolled around, Konami had moved away from side-scrolling action platformers to reboot the Castlevania series as a 3D action adventure with Lord of the Shadow and then Lord of the Shadows' sequel in 2014. Since then, no new Castlevania game has been released that wasn't a remaster.

Yet it isn't just the world of video games that Castlevania has thrived in. Its 2017 Netflix series was massively well-received, to the point that after 4 seasons of horror goodness, its spin-off Castlevania: Nocturne was practically guaranteed to do just as well.

Unfortunately—or fortunately, depending on how you look at it—such a varied history will have players openly speculating just which Belmont will join the Survivors to work on generators and escape the Killers in the Entity's realm.

The video game franchise is well-loved, and Dracula is all but guaranteed, considering he is the ultimate villain. However, considering Behaviour Interactive has collaborated and worked with Netflix before for Stranger Things, just which Belmont will it be, and will it be limited to the games or Netflix?

Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long to find out. As announced via Dead by Daylight's 8th anniversary stream, more information about the upcoming Castlevania chapter will be revealed on August 6, 2024.

In the meantime, Dead by Daylight players will have plenty to explore with the upcoming 2v8 game mode and a new, free-to-play game called What The Fog.
