Breakdown

  • Arishem the Judge is coming to Marvel Snap, according to a recent datamine, with a really fun ability
  • The 7-Cost, 7-Power card completely shuffles random cards into your deck, giving you a chaotic deck each time
  • It won't be meta defining, but Arishem's ability will certainly add an interesting take to the game

Marvel Snap offers hundreds of cards, with some iconic faces and some lesser known characters in the library. However, many fit within certain deck archetypes, such as X-23 being great for destroy decks, while Wong is perfect for On Reveal-heavy decks. But a recently leaked card could be a huge game-changer, focusing on fun over competitivity.

So, if you're growing bored of the best Marvel Snap destroy decks and routinely discarding cards in Marvel Snap, this upcoming card could be a refreshing choice to spend your Spotlight Keys or Tokens on.

Arishem, better known as Arishem the Judge, is a Celestiel, and one of the only Celestiels who can decide who has the right and ability to judge a planet, it's civilization, and whether they live or die. In Marvel Snap, he's less powerful, but offers a unique ability that makes him one of the most interesting in the game.

As a 7-Cost, 7-Power card, Arishem's text currently reads 'At the start of the game, +1 Max Energy. Shuffle 12 random cards into your deck' (via Marvel Snapzone). Being one of only two cards above 6-Cost, the other being Death, Arishem's ability gives you not only an additional Energy to play with each turn, but also completely randomizes your deck.

This functions similarly to District X, which will completely swap out your deck for a random selection of cards. Of course, this means you have no clue what cards you have until you draw them, so Arishem isn't brilliant for sticking with the meta. However, he sounds absolutely chaotic, and I need more of that in Marvel Snap.

After playing the game for over a year, and enjoying running the various decks, such as the best Marvel Snap Mockingbird decks or the best Marvel Snap move decks, Arishem's ability will certainly make the game more interesting. It won't be guaranteed to win you cubes, but for those looking to enjoy the game in a new way, he'll definitely be a must-have card.

Of course, this is based on a datamine of a patch, and Second Dinner could either completely change his ability. However, I hope it doesn't, as Arishem isn't sitting in any archetype - instead, he is completely focused on pure chaos, and I can't wait to add him to my lengthy collection.
