May is here, and we are approaching five months since the first official GTA 6 trailer was released. Since then, Rockstar Games has been radio silent about GTA 6, its potential release date, and the debut of Trailer 2.
The silence from Rockstar Games has fueled anticipation, conjecture, and hypotheses about the release of GTA 6’s second trailer. After all, GTA 6 has arguably become the most eagerly awaited video game (or even piece of media) in recent memory.
The gap between GTA 5 and GTA 6 is the longest in the series, totalling about 12 years of waiting by 2025. This has given gamers time to build expectations and hype for the next instalment.
GTA 6 Trailer 2: Release Date Rumours and Theories
There hasn’t been news about the release date of the second trailer from Rockstar Games or leaks on GTA 6’s subreddit, but some interesting predictions may suggest fans and gamers will have to wait a bit longer.
GTA 6’s first trailer was released earlier than planned on December 5, 2023, as hackers leaked it early on X/Twitter. So, now that it’s almost five months later, the burning question that needs to be answered is: When is the next GTA 6 Trailer coming out?

The strongest source of speculation the subreddit is currently clinging to is Rockstar Games’ release dates of their previous games. An insightful post by u/francy_walker on the GTA 6 subreddit reveals an easy-to-follow timeline based on GTA 5 and RDR 2’s release dates as well as Take-Two Interactive’s (Rockstar Games’ parent company) earnings projection for the fiscal year 2025.
The timeline is split into two categories: with and without delays. In the no-delay timeline, francy_walker predicted that Trailer 2 would drop in April, but obviously, that wasn't the case, as we are now in May.
Instead, it would be logical to focus on the timeline with delays, as francy_walker claims that Trailer 2 will drop in November 2024, with GTA 6 releasing in October 2025.
That would mean the second trailer is around six months away and almost a year from the first. While this may sound like an outrageously long wait, it is worth noting that francy_walker did their research, as both GTA 5 and RDR 2 have gaps of around 11-12 months between their trailer releases.
It isn’t unrealistic to think that gamers will wait another six months for GTA 6’s second trailer to arrive and probably more than a year for the game to drop.
GTA 6 Trailer 2: Fans' Wishlists and Demands
Rockstar Games' most likely angle for Trailer 2 focuses on the game's second protagonist, Jason. As Trailer 1 puts Lucia in the spotlight, it is only fair that Jason gets his fair share of attention, as he is set to be a playable character like Lucia.
Because of this, fans in this Reddit thread by Patient_Inspector818 are pleading with Rockstar Games to give Jason the primary focus for Trailer 2.
But some, like Fabulous-Emotion8845, said, "I think it'll focus on Jason more for sure, which leads me to think it'll focus more on the Everglades Leonida keys area. That'd be good".
Aside from giving Jason the spotlight, gamers in the thread have also expressed their desire to see more of Leonida (the fictional Florida that GTA 6 is set in). Some, like HorrorPace3684, want to see the other sections of the map:
Others are more specific, wishing for things like water-based activities, saying, "Ooh yeah, water had better be improved in a few ways since it will be a bit more of a focus with the Florida keys stretching out so far."
Some want to see the capabilities of Rockstar's RAGE Engine, which they have used since GTA 4.
And finally, there are those like ThisIsaGoodIdea who are tired of waiting and just want a release date requesting "A black screen with “January 1st, 2025” on it."
In a nutshell, fans want to see more of Jason, Leonida, the physics and capabilities of RAGE, and, of course, the release date of GTA 6 in Trailer 2. It's a lot to ask of one trailer, but we are talking about Rockstar Games and GTA 6, so expectations and demands are high.
As with any theories, rumours, and speculations, take everything here with a grain of salt and hope that Rockstar Games drops GTA 6 Trailer 2 sooner than November 2024.
